These Freeze-Dried Strawberry Birthday Cake Balls are the ultimate strawberry lover’s treat! They are also a great way to use up leftover yellow birthday cake. freeze-dried strawberry birthday cake balls

Oh man. These treats were a VERY happy accident. I happen to love strawberries and Thrive Strawberries are definitely in my top 3 favorite Thrive Life foods. They are SO versatile. We put them in everything. Smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt, baked goods. Why not pulverize them and use them for natural flavoring and coloring in frosting’s and candies as well?

Did you watch the video? These really are simple. If you have leftover birthday cake, just smash it  together, frosting and all.  Add some freeze-dried strawberries. Dip. Devour. I made cake specifically for these babies because they are just that good. The nice thing is it one time I don’t have to worry about overcooking the cake :).

Cake Ball Ingredients:
Unfrosted Homemade Yellow Cake
Freeze-Dried Strawberries
Frosting (I used this simple Brown Butter Frosting)
White Almond Bark
Freeze-Dried Strawberry Powder
crushed freeze-dried strawberries

Freeze-Dried just works here. When it comes to baking, and tinting frosting’s or chocolate, freeze-dried works far better than it’s fresh counterparts because it doesn’t add any extra moisture. Pancakes, muffins, cakes, smoothies, or even cobblers are great places to add freeze-dried fruits.

Now go make these! I am super excited about another freeze-dried fruit dessert I will be posting in a week or two. Think Halloween… and really cute. Stay tuned!
