12 of My Very Favorite Things {And Why I Love Them}

There are things in life that just make me happy. Things that I love. Things that make my day, week, year, or life better. Check out this post to see 12 of my most favorite things EVER, and why I love them so much.

12 of my favorite things and why I love them

When you find something you love and it stands the test of time, it needs to be shared! I love gift guides and product reviews, so I thought I would do one of my own. This list of my favorite things all in one place makes me really, really happy.

This list includes some newfound loves, as well as some tried-and-true love’s that we have been using for years. I hope if there is something on here you have been considering, it will help make your decision easier!

These aren’t necessarily in any particular order. As in, they aren’t ordered from my most favorite to least. I love them all!

#1) Ukulele. How I love thee.

I love my ukulele. L.O.V.E. If you have always wanted to play a stringed instrument, but thought you wouldn’t be able to learn, get a ukulele! It is substantially easier than a guitar in my opinion. The whole 4 strings instead of 6, helps for sure. The chords are easier to learn on a ukulele. And, the strings are generally easier to push down. Since they are so small, they are easier to hold, even for little guys. They are just so cute and stinking fun to play.

I love that there isn’t a huge learning curve. Within a few weeks you can easily play a few catchy, well-known tunes. There are SO many online classes and tutorials that will make you feel like a rockstar without having to take traditional lessons. Cynthia Lin happens to be my favorite, but there are countless others as well.

I love my Kala concert-sized uke. While more expensive than say, this one, (which my boys have), you notice a definite difference in sound quality. With ukulele’s (like most things) you get what you pay for, however if you are just starting out, the cheaper ones still work great. It is worth it to talk to your favorite local music store and have them help you get the perfect uke for you.

After only a few months I was playing simple songs like this for my boys at bedtime, and they love it.

#2) Strider Bike. Best purchase we have ever made for our boys.

I know I said I love this whole list equally, but if I HAD put them in order, the Strider Bike would have been in the top 3. If I had a dollar for every hour my boys have spent on the Strider Bike we have, I would be able to fund about 1,000 of them. I can honestly say it’s the best purchase we have ever made for our boys.

If you have never seen a Strider Bike in action, the premise is the kids learn balance without training wheels or pedals. My boys have gotten so adept on their Strider’s that around 4 they just switch straight to a bike (no training wheels needed). Hallelujah! And you can start kids on a Strider Bike really young. I am all about my kids riding their own bikes instead of having to push them in a stroller everywhere we go.

My youngest is 3, and his Strider Bike is his preferred mode of transportation everywhere we go. Another positive is that the wheels are plastic, so you don’t have to worry about popped tires. If you don’t trust me, just read the hundreds of 5-star Amazon reviews. Seriously, worth every single penny.

#3) RX Bars. Best protein bar out there (in my humble opinion)…

I consider myself somewhat of a protein bar aficionado. I feel like I have tried every kind of protein bar on the market. Some of them are delicious, but filled with junk. Some of them have clean labels, but taste awful. Some are too chewy. Some are too hard. Some taste like throw up. Some taste too sweet. And, some have crickets. No thanks.

Enter these RX Bars. They have changed my life. I love every single thing about them. They are the perfect texture. They don’t have ANY crap ingredients. They aren’t too sweet, but are sweet enough to feel like a treat when I am not eating any refined sugar (hello, Chocolate Sea Salt, you are delicious). I love them so much.

My favorite is the Blueberry. I also like the Chocolate Chip, Mint Chocolate, Maple Sea Salt, and Peanut Butter Chocolate. You can find them at store’s like Trader Joe’s, but I prefer to just order them from the RX Bar website. You can usually score free shipping and an additional % off with a promo code, and they have great customer service.

#4) Sergeant’s Fitness (CrossFit)

When you hear the word CrossFit, how do you feel? I had no idea CrossFit was such an emotional topic for people until I started doing it. There is a false idea out there that you have to be able to squat 300 pounds, have a defined 6-pack, and be OK with injuries to do CrossFit. False.

I don’t squat even close to 300 pounds, in fact, before CrossFit, I didn’t even know HOW to squat properly. I definitely don’t have a 6-pack. And the last thing I want to do is get injured.

I have always loved exercise. It keeps me mentally healthy and I like how I feel when I am fit. Ever since my last baby though, I have had a hard time getting rid of my last 20 pounds. Even while I was training for a 1/2 marathon I was chubby. CrossFit has helped me tone up and see HUGE changes in my body and strength in a few short months.

If you are in the Caldwell/Nampa area, Sergeant’s Fitness is a must. They offer a variety of programs, and you can’t beat the trainers. They are so great. Your soon-to-be-changed-body will thank you. It really is one of the highlights of my day every time I go in. Is it hard work? Yes. Do I sometimes want to puke. Yes. Is it totally worth it. Absolutely! But I can see now why people become CrossFit obsessed.

#5) Rodan + Fields (Unblemish System)

I have struggled with acne for YEARS. For some reason it hit me in my adult life. Hormones maybe? Who knows. What I do know is that it is embarrassing and I cried many times about my face. I have tried everything, I repeat, EVERYTHING for my skin. I have been on multiple rounds of antibiotics, have tried every OTC skin care line you can imagine, vitamins, diet changes, etc. etc. etc.

A few months ago I started Unblemish from Rodan + Fields and let me tell you, it’s a game-changer.Unblemish Results

Although Rodan + Fields is expensive, I am so, so happy with the results. It has made me 10 times more confident about my skin. I know before and after pictures are SO lame because let’s be honest, in the first one, it’s an AWFUL angle, I am in my bathroom so the light is terrible, and I have no eye makeup on. Basically, I look like a prison inmate. However, in the 2nd pic, the only makeup I have on is mascara and eyeliner. It’s not edited.

I still have occasional breakouts, but seriously, do you see the difference! I don’t even sell Rodan + Fields, but I have a friend who does, and I will sing praises about their Unblemish system to anyone who will listen.

#6) Sneaky Snacky Squirrel. A children’s game I can handle.

My boys LOVE games. They could play games for hours and hours. I, on the other hand, cannot play mind-numbing kids games for hours and hours. There are a few games that when Luke, my 3-year old, pulls out to play, I don’t cringe. And Sneaky Snacky Squirrel is one of them.

It’s quick. Simple enough for a 3-year old. Makes me feel like a slightly better mother because it has helped Luke learn a few colors. And we have played it thousands of times and I still don’t mind it. That right there is tried-and-true in my opinion.

#7) Thrive Freeze-Dried Cauliflower. Trust me. It’s addicting.

You had to know that something Thrive related would be in my favorites list. It’s hard for me to choose a favorite Thrive-related thing because I love so many things. I love the rotating shelves, pretty much all of the fruits, and I think we have one of the best business opportunities out there.

But back to the cauliflower….. I love it. With some hummus, ranch, or any veggie dip of choice it’s like a healthy chip. I eat it straight out of the can with almost every dinner. I love it’s crunch. I love that I don’t have to cut up a big, stinky head of cauliflower every time I want to enjoy some. And it’s just as healthy as fresh. Love it.

#8) Diamond Stud Earrings. Great for sensitive ears.

I have extremely sensitive ears. I have always wanted to wear cute earrings, but after a few hours they always bugged my ears. For a few years I stopped wearing earrings because I didn’t think I would find any that would work.

Last Christmas, my mom bought me some diamond stud earrings on a killer Black Friday deal from Kohl’s and I have worn them every day since. The ones I have are really similar to these earrings They have never, ever bugged my ears. They are tiny, but still add a little sparkle to anything I wear. I feel like I can wear them with workout clothes or dresses, or anything in between.

#9) Final Cut Pro. Everyone can make great videos.

I love making videos. It’s always been a little side hobby/interest of mine. I feel like with a semi-decent camera and a good editing program anyone can make videos. Final Cut Pro is so user-friendly and helps even the most novice videographer create great movies.

#10) Orgain Protein Powder. Great if you are sensitive to dairy or whey.

I know. I know. Again with the protein. Along with bars, I have also tried a lot of protein powders over the years. Most of them make my stomach sick. I think I finally narrowed the cause down to whey. I am pretty sensitive to dairy and every time I drank a powder with whey my stomach felt unsettled.

I found this plant-based Chocolate Fudge Orgain Powder at Costco a few months ago, and I drink it every single morning. I am happy. My stomach is happy. I will never go back. I blend 2 scoops powder,1/2 a banana, a handful of oats, PB2, almond milk, and ice. It is seriously delicious.

#11) Mel’s Kitchen Cafe Yumm Sauce. Delicious.

Even if I did not work for my sister, Mel’s Kitchen Cafe would be my go-to for all of my recipes. There are very few recipes on her site that I haven’t tried, and out of ALL of the amazing options, this one is my favorite. I want to focus on the sauce for a minute though.

Have you ever found a gluten-free, dairy-free, refined-sugar free sauce or condiment that is tasty? I haven’t. They are all pretty much disgusting. The Yumm Sauce in this recipe however is amazing. I love it in this meal, on rice, on salad. I just love it. It’s super simple to throw together and worth every minute.

#12) Norwex Cloths. No more nasty kitchen rag smell!

I have used Norwex products for YEARS. I was converted when I was able to use the same kitchen cloth for close to 2 months without washing it and it didn’t smell. You know what causes stench on  rags, right? Bacteria! Properly taken care of, these clothes really are miraculous. I am a total believer in microfiber now.

I don’t sell Norwex, but I have friends who do. If you don’t have a few of these babies in your kitchen, contact one of your Norwex friends and order a few ASAP. I will never go back to Target kitchen rags again.

Well. There you have it. 12 of my most favorite things! I hope you loved this post as much as I do!
